Septic Tank Pumping & Maintenance

Septic Tank Pumping

Pumping septic tanks is a service we have provided since 1959. Mack Waters, a first generation Waters, started our family owned company with its original location at 2774 17th St. in Sarasota, FL. Since our start, Waters Septic Tank Service, Inc. has pumped septic tanks and installed septic tanks, drain fields and lift stations to home and business owners throughout Sarasota, Bradenton, Palmetto, and Parish. We are proud to announce the location of our new freshly built office located at 6760 28th St, Circle East Sarasota, FL, 34243.

The Importance of Maintaining Your Septic Tank

Tanks have not changed much since the 1950's when Waters Septic Tank Service, Inc. first started, with the exception of the choices in tank materials available today, including concrete, fiberglass or poly. Since the late 1990's, the State of Florida implemented that all newly installed septic tanks be equipped with an outlet filter device. This cartridge sits on the outlet side of the septic tank and should be cleaned by either the homeowner or a licensed septic installer, like ourselves, twice per year. This will prevent a sudden backup in the home due to a dirty, plugged filter cartridge. If the filter cleaning gets overlooked, backups can happen fast and without warning, causing disruption and unsanitary conditions to your entire household.

Our septic system experts provide this filter cleaning service to all of our customers for a minimal fee, allowing you to leave your system upkeep to us. Call (941) 366-6686 or

Signs Your Tank Needs to Be Pumped

Just like any system that helps keep your home comfortable needs regular maintenance, your septic system requires routine pumping to ensure your property’s waste is handled correctly and safely.

How do you know if it is time to have your system pumped? Your tank should be inspected and pumped every 2 years, on average, but other factors like your home’s occupancy, use of the garbage disposal, detergents, and other chemicals can shorten the amount of time you should let your system go unchecked. Depending on these variants, you may encounter the signs and symptoms that it is time to give our professional septic technicians a call before your next servicing. Be on the lookout for:
  • Slow Draining Tubs, Toilets, Showers, and Washing Machines
  • Sewage Odor Coming From Plumbing Fixtures or Near Your Septic Tank or Drain Field
  • Standing Water in Your Lawn Around the Tank or Drain Field
  • Overly Green Lawn Near Your Septic System
  • System Backup of Sewage into Your Home
Don’t neglect your septic system – schedule your system checkup and avoid costly and unsanitary backups with our complete system inspections and maintenance services. Call (941) 366-6686 or (941) 355-8670 to schedule your service today.
